Horsehair raku decorative pot (small) – Firing III, No. 4

A round porcelain pot, thrown on the wheel and fired using the raku technique. While still glowing hot fresh from the kiln, Jake and Abby’s horsehair, Parker and her BFF’s fur and specks of sugar are laid onto the surface — the heat ignites them instantly, burning carbon trails and smoke patterns into the clay. The surface carries a subtle opalescent sheen from mica, catching light differently throughout the day. The design continues at the bottom of the pot with a dramatic sizzle of horsehair.
