Horsehair raku decorative pot (medium) – Firing III, No. 5

A round porcelain pot, thrown on the wheel and fired using the raku technique. While still glowing hot fresh from the kiln , Jake and Abby’s horsehair, Parker’s fur, a few feathers and specks of sugar are laid onto the surface — the heat ignites them instantly, burning carbon trails and smoke patterns into the clay. The surface carries a subtle opalescent sheen from mica, catching light differently throughout the day. The design continues inside the pot with specks from the sugar and a small sizzle of horsehair.
