Our Story

The first time I ever saw a wheel was in the movie Ghost and the romance, the sensuality, the tactility of that pottery scene left a lasting impression. Many, many years later, living in Shanghai I discovered Spin and their collective of artists and artisans making contemporary ceramics from Jingdezhen. I fell in love with the delicate porcelain and it awakened a passion for pottery.

It took a pandemic, a new friendship and communal studios in NYC to finally put clay into my hands and that passion for collecting became a passion for creating. And it took a move in 2025 to the Hudson Valley to find my voice and learn what I love making.

I believe that objects should feel as good as they look. The roundness of the pot, the curve of the big bowl, the lightness of the porcelain settling into your hands for the first time, the stories behind the fur and feathers burnt into the objects all create an experience that only handmade can deliver. No two are ever quite the same and that’s exactly the point.

Meet the Crew

Every hair tells a story

Jake Abby

Jake & Abby

Jake and Abby are working draft horses at Delaware Phoenix Distillery, a small-batch absinthe maker in the Western Catskills belonging to our friend Ryan. They pull their weight on the farm and lend the hair from their manes to my fire. Their horsehair is at the heart of the raku collection.

Parker

Parker

Parker is my pandemic pup, my faithful companion, and the light of my life. Being with her has made me slow down, notice more, and spend more time in nature. Her fur adds the soft, finer frizzles to the pots, complementing the dramatic lines Jake and Abby’s hair leaves. Sometimes her furry friends lend a helpful tuft or two.

The Birds

Feathers find me rather than the other way around — large ones from the hawks that circle overhead, smaller ones from the wood doves and other birds that hang out in the trees and bushes outside fall to the ground and Parker and I find them. Each one lends their beautiful shape to the pots.

Pieces can be customized with hair, fur, or feathers that are dear to you.
